HOTEL ON BEACH:
The Sandals chain of resorts has two properties on St. Lucia. This is a typically luxurious Sandals property with full amenities; all couples and all-inclusive. 

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
Saturday morning market in Castries. Even if you are staying at an all-inclusive, the market is a great spot for local color, some great fruits for your beach bag and a fun place to practise your bartering skills, a sport unknown to most North Americans and Europeans.

ACCESS TO BEACH:
St. Lucia law proclaims that all beaches must be open to everyone. And though Sandals does try for exclusitivity, there is a marked path by the gated entrance, actually a short dirt walkway beside a somewhat murky stream, which leads to the north end of the beach.

QUALITY OF BEACH:
Coarse, golden sand but not a very long stretch. 

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Sure, you can get to the beach but you can't do much on it. Visitors to the Sandals stretch are not made to feel welcome and all facilities are reserved for paying guests only. Suntanning is free though.
